Journalists have boycotted the coverage of proceedings of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly here on Tuesday against the cancellation of the press card of one of their colleague by the Assembly Secretariat. The protesting journalists gathered in front of the entry gate of the Assembly building and staged protest rally against the officials of the Assembly Secretariat.
While addressing the protesting journalists, President of Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) Nisar Mehmood, President of Peshawar Press Club (PPC) Syed Bokhar Shah and President of Press Gallery Abdul Hakeem condemned the decision of the Assembly Secretariat and in protest announced the boycott of the Assembly proceedings.
The protesting journalists have demanded action against the security personnel as promised by the Speaker Asad Qaiser during talks with journalists on the Senate elections day. But, the Assembly Secretariat cancelled the press card of another journalist to ban his entry into the Assembly building. The journalists have urged the Speaker Asad Qaiser to suspend concerned security guard, otherwise the boycott will be continued for indefinite period.
