Ministry of Communication: National Assembly body upholds demand of Rs 880.251 million for new projects
National Assembly's Standing Committee on Communication on Wednesday endorsed the budgetary proposal of the Ministry. The Ministry has demanded total amount of Rs 880.251 million for completion of new projects. The committee met with Chaudhry Khalid Javed Warrach in the chair at Parliament House on Wednesday.
The Committee discussed the proposals relating to Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2015-16 pertaining to Ministry of Communication (Postal Services Department). The Committee was briefed on the budgetary proposals of Pakistan Post Office (PPO) for the financial year 2015-16 along with its total utilisation and year of completion.
The Committee was informed that the fraud/corruption cases of millions of rupees in Pakistan Post Office (PPO) were not properly investigated by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The Committee directed that the FIA be invited in the next meeting to brief the Committee regarding these cases. Upon a query by a Member, the Committee was informed that 1,200 vacant posts were advertised for recruitment in PPO. The meeting was also attended by Sarframeen, Maiza Hameed, Nazir Ahmed Bughio, Salim Rehman, Molana Qamar ud Din, Naseema Hafeez Panezai, Engr Usman Khan Tarakai & Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio MNAs; and officers of Ministry of Communications & PPO.
