The Karachi Port handled 96,610 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,324 tonnes of import cargo and 17,286 tonnes of export cargo including 4,339 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 79,324 tonnes comprised of 29,501 tonnes of containerised cargo; 38 tonnes of general cargo; 6,244 tonnes of soyabean meal and 43,541 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,286 tonnes comprised of 14,836 tonnes of containerised cargo; 50 tonnes of general cargo and 2,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,339 containers comprising of 2,191 containers import and 2,148 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 735 of 20's and 716 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 12 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 367 of 20's and 247 of 40's loaded containers while 497 of 20's and 395 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely ACX Crystal, Sima Prestige, Midvolga-2, Omera Queen and Vermilion Energy carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. OOCL Shanghai, Commodore, Nava Atropos and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Chao Hu carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Commodore carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday. There were five vessels viz. Ever Radient, PAC Aries, Al Jalaa, Orient Solar and Chem Orion carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while four vessels viz. Cosco Osaka, APL Chicago, Gulf Mist and Sapphire-T carrying containers, mogas and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 68,318 tonnes comprising 46,223 tonnes of import cargo and 22,095 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,908 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 46,223 tonnes includes 7,000 tonnes of edible oil; 18,530 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,334 tonnes of chemical and 16,359 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 22,095 tonnes includes 2,202 tonnes of cement and 19,893 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,908 containers comprising of 861 containers import and 1,047 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were two ships namely CV CMA CGM Bellini and CV K-Phoenix with containers sailed out sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Saigon Express carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Bellini, CV K-Phoenix, CV Saigon Express, MV Tan Binh-22, MV Batter Sea Park, MT Lahore and MT Horizon currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
There were no ships at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday. There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Carman, CV Michigan, MT Inception and MT Lahore carrying containers, canola seeds and furnace oil respectively expected to took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are two ships namely MT Atlantic Glory and MV Oriental Queen carrying chemical and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
