Equities Thursday staged a recovery and registered gains on the Lahore Stock Exchange amid descending transaction volume on account of cautious approach of the investors. The LSE-25 index was marginally improved by 4.07 points to close at 5766.05 against 5761.98 of Wednesday, while trading turnover squeezed to 448,900 shares compared with the day earlier volume of 821,800 shares.
The market was opened on a positive sign and stayed in green zone throughout the day. The investors while adopting a cautious behaviour made entries in select scrips like Pakistan Refinery, Systems Limited, NetSol Technologies, Pak Elektron, Arif Habib Corporation, Adamjee Insurance, Sui Southern, Askari Bank, PIA and Maple Leaf Cement that helped market sentiments.
On the contrary, Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, Bank Alfalah, Bank of Punjab, Silk Bank, PTCL, Byco Petroleum and Shell Pakistan were succumbed of profit taking. Gainers were more than the losers, as of 74 active issues, 10 companies posted gains, eight stayed in negative zone while 56 companies remained unchanged.
Among gainers, Pakistan Refinery gained Rs 7.39, System Limited Rs 2.84 while NetSol Technologies and Pak Elektron improved their worth by Rs 1.77 and Rs 1.26, respectively. In minus column, Shell Pakistan lost Rs 4.19 while Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim and Lafarge Pakistan Cement shed 55-paisa and 24-paisa, respectively. Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim stayed as market leader with trading of 140,000 shares followed by Bank of Punjab with 94,000 shares.
