Airport Security Force (ASF) on Thursday briefly detained a United States (US) citizen for attempting to board a plane while carrying a pistol and 11 bullets, sources said. Source said that Patrick Tona, who was identified by airport official as security in-charge of US embassy, was planning to travel to Oman when he was taken into custody.
A 9mm pistol and bullets were found through a scanner machine, they said. They said that after detention Patrick was sent to airport police station but he was later released following the intervention of US embassy officials and top government functionaries without any legal action against him. The spokesman for the US embassy could not be reached for comments.
