Four persons were shot dead allegedly by members of their rival group outside the Jaranwala City police station due to an old enmity, here on Friday. According to details, an old enmity of murders was running between Azam Marth and Yasin groups for the last several years and cases were pending in the court of Sessions Judge Jaranwala.
According to details, members of one group - Qasim, Adnan, Wajid and Iqbal - were going towards the Jaranwala City police station after attending the court's proceedings. However, when they reached outside the police station, some armed persons opened indiscriminate firing, killing Qasim, son of Azam; Adnan, Wajid and Iqbal on the spot. All the dead reportedly belonged to the same family. Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased protested against the killing of their family members outside Tehsil Court. They also blocked roads and reportedly damaged nearby shops and some passing vehicles.
The protesters also staged a protest demonstration outside the District Headquarters Hospital and in front of the City police Station, forcing the nearby shopkeepers to close their shops. The police officials reached the site of the protest hours after the protest. The protesters also tried to enter into the police station.
They were, however, dispersed after being assured of prompt action against the culprits involved in the heinous crime and the 'incompetent' police officers. Meanwhile, Dr Sohail Tajik has constituted a four-member committee to investigate into the incident. The committee is headed by SP Jaranwala, Arif Shahbaz Wazir and its members include SP CIA, Farooq Hundal, DSP and SHO City police station.
