Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Customs Intelligence in a joint operation in open sea by huge quantity of foreign origin smuggled whisky and beer was seized. The contraband was being brought through sea route to Karachi and the attempt was foiled through a timely and successful action which was also attended by Preventive Collectorate.
According to details Directorate of Customs Intelligence Hqrs. had received information that the huge quantity of whisky and beer will be smuggled to Karachi by sea.
Acting on this PMSA deployed its assets including ship and speed boats. One suspicious boat was spotted. On the spot enquiry revealed that the same is loaded with huge contraband.
The launch was escorted to Karachi Harbour for detail checking. As a result approximately 12 thousands of foreign origin smuggled bottles of whisky foreign beer was recovered from the same. In reply to a query Director Customs Intelligence Muhammad Asif Marghoob Siddiqui told that value of contraband is estimated at Rs 70 million.-PR
