Minister for States and Frontier Regions Lieutenant General Abdul Qadir Baloch (retd) has said that repatriating process of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their areas would be completed till September 2016. While winding up debate on the issue of IDPs, the minister said that Rs 30 billion would be utilised for reconstruction of infrastructure and rehabilitation of IDPs.
He said that Rs0.5 million would be paid to a family whose house has been destroyed during military operation. He said that the government would rehabilitate schools, health facilities and other infrastructure in FATA within a period of 18 months.
He said that the process of repatriating has started on March 16, 2015 while this process would be started on March 31 for North Waziristan. He said that the repatriation of Bara and Khyber Agency would be started from March 20. The families would be given six months ration in collaboration with World Food Programme (WFP), he said.
The minister said that Rs 2.8 million people belonging to seven agencies had to leave their homes due to military operation against terrorists.
He said that around one million people were displaced within a week. He said the Government is determined to restore peace and tranquility in the country which is impossible without rehabilitating Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
