That Pakistan have lost to Australia in a quarter-final contest for the semi-final of the much coveted Cricket World Cup is a grim reality that has disappointed all Pakistanis at home and abroad. Not only did Pakistan bat miserably, they also squandered away every opportunity that came in their way to defeat Australia by dropping catches and exhibiting sloppy fielding.
There are many questions captain Misbahul Haq needs to answer. Why did he try to hit Australian bowler for a six when Australia captain Michael Clarke had beefed up on-side boundary by placing two fielders there? Didn't he know that no one but an in-form Pakistan skipper was required to bat till the end of innings? Wasn't he required to make the most significant contribution to Pakistan's total? Spinner Yasir Shah was conspicuous by his absence. Why?
