The Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) fortnightly report shows that around 1,47,85,795 cotton bales were sourced to the country's ginners by March 16, 2015, which shows an increase of 10.59 percent than last year when ginneries received 1,33,69,627 bales of cotton.
PCGA Chairman Hafeez Anwar briefed journalists on Wednesday about seed-cotton (phutti) arrivals, sales and unsold stock of cotton. He said that 1,35,72,572 cotton bales were sold to the textile units and exporters bought 4,73,337 bales. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) purchased 94,900 bales. Thus, overall 1,41,40,809 cotton bales were traded so far. He said the PCGA was following the production target of the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee.
Hafeez Anwar said that total 156, 135 in Punjab and 21 in Sindh out of 1,200 ginning factories were operational in two provinces. The PCGA chairman said that Punjab contributed 1,07,41,666 cotton bales which 12.18 percent more than last year when Punjab contributed 95,75,135 cotton bales, Sindh contributed 39,64,187 cotton bales, which is 5.61 percent more than last year when it contributed 37,53,532 bales and Balochistan 77,002 cotton bales. After the total trading of 1,38,60,323 cotton bales, there are 6,44,986 bales available with ginners as unsold stock. He was pessimistic about stability of cotton prices in the market.
District-wise cotton arrival in Punjab: Multan 4,96,295 bales which are 0.09 percent more than last year, Lodhran 3,71,736 bales 3.58% decrease, Khanewal 9,83,803 showing an increase of 5.05%, Muzaffargarh 4,90,932 bales, 18.59% increase, Dera Ghazi Khan 4,92,247 bales showed an increase of 24.89 %, Rajanpur 5,67,863 bales showing an increase of 37.97%. Layyah 3,95,328 bales 42.05% more than last year, Vehari 7,99,536 bales showing a decrease of 8.68%, Sahiwal 5,94,629 bales increased by 11.52%,
Pakpattan 1,73,503, showing 0.11% more than preceding year, Okara 52,728 bales showing an increase of 15.65%, Kasur 22,400 bales 21.09% less than last year, Toba Tek Singh, 3,28,094 bales (an increase of 39.02%), Faisalabad 98,233 (increase of 51.80%), Jhang 74,084 bales (37.34% decline), Mianwali 4,54,935 bales (47.04% increase), Bhakkar 1,93,750 bales showing an increase of 9.94%, Sargodha 26,582 bales (30.96% decline), Rahimyar Khan 14,08,279 bales an increase of 18.40%, Bahawalpur 13,31,809 bales (an increase of 20.15), Bahawalnagar 14,52,467 bales showing an increase of 3.25%.
District wise cotton arrival in Sindh: Hyderabad 2,66,731 bales showing a decrease of 10.83%, Mirpurkhas 4,03,461 bales showing an increase of 11.44%, Sanghar 15,11,741 bales an increase of 7.73%, Nawabshah 3,13,761 bales, an increase 7.09%, Naushahro Feroze 2,58,265 bales an increase of 3.18%, Khairpur 2,50,548 bales an increase of 4.23 %, Ghotki 2,27,891 bales an increase of 6.99 %, Sukkur 4,15,359 bales an increase of 15.60%, Dadu 44,664 bales an increase of 25.81, Jamshoro 1,46,900 bales a decline of 21.61%, Badin 54,700 bales an increase of 2.20%, and Balochistan 77,002 bales an increase of 22.13%. Ginneries received 1,11,957 bales during the fortnight of March 01 to 16, 2015. Unsold stock is 6,44,986 bales, which is less than last year when it reached to 8,51,320 bales.
