Technical And Vocational Training Authority Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Shaikh has said TEVTA trained 1,200 people in professional cooking course. This six-month course has successfully started at the Govt. Technical Training Institute Gulberg.
Pass-outs of this course are using their skills by self-employment and in top establishments of hotels and restaurants in the country and abroad. Top hotels and restaurant including Serena, Pearl Continental, Hospitality Inn, Avari, Royal Palm Golf and Country Club, Defence Club, various restaurants and multi-unit chains etc have employed the pass-outs of this course. In abroad, they are serving in Dubai, Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa etc.
Irfan Qaiser Shaikh said the course was introduced keeping in view the man-power needs in the hospitality sector. "Not only the poor but also the trainees with higher qualification, have benefited from this course as well," he added. Hotel and Restaurant Industry has given positive feed-back by using the services of our pass-outs.
He said, "This course has improved the employable skills of young men and women in the province, boosting the regional and local development of hospitality sector. The professional cooking course aims at imparting practical skills and theoretical knowledge for developing adequately trained cooks/chefs with a view to meet the requirement of hospitality sector in food production units. Technical training enables them to adopt the practices maintaining highest standards of hygiene and grooming through food safety processes and sanitation.
