Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has said that the poor and needy people had the right to be the first beneficiary of the state resources and the government would extend all possible support to the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to extend its outreach to the most deserving segments of the population.
The Minister said this while chairing a briefing session about the BISP here on Saturday. BISP Chairperson Marvi Memon gave a detailed presentation to the Finance Minister on the 100-days programme which she said was being undertaken to fully activate this all important social security institution. The Minister was apprised about the e-governance mechanism introduced in the BISP soon after assumption of responsibilities by the incumbent chairperson.
The Minister was informed that the BISP was all set to launch the Waseela-e-Taleem Programme next week which would carry incentives for BISP-registered families to send their children to school. The Minister was also informed that the target of 5 million deserving people would sure be achieved by end June.
