ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in a meeting with British High Commissioner Philip Barton at the Punjab House here on Wednesday reportedly urged him to stop Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain from issuing threatening statements against the security agencies of Pakistan, a senior official of the Interior Ministry told Business Recorder.
The Interior Minister also reportedly handed over a copy of the FIR that Sindh Rangers got registered against Altaf Hussain to the High Commissioner during the meeting. He further maintained that the Imran Farooq murder case also came under discussion and both sides agreed to cooperate on the investigation of the case. However, the spokesman of Ministry of Interior, when contacted, did not confirm this development. The meeting was held between the Interior Minister and the High Commissioner a day after the Karachi police registered a case against MQM chief on the complaint of Colonel Tahir Mehmood of Rangers under section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and 7ATA (Anti-Terrorism Act).
According to a press release issued by Ministry of Interior, the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif discussed the twin church attacks in Youhanabad Lahore during a meeting here at the Punjab House. The meeting decided that strict action to be taken against protesters who lynched two persons. They also decided that strict action would be taken against police personnel if found involved in the incident.
