The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior member and a former Punjab governor has urged the elimination of criminals, saying it is important for all political parties to eliminate any kind of criminal elements from their ranks for democracy to progress and continue.
Mohammad Sarwar told a delegation at the Araiin Convention on Monday, "The MQM [Muttahida Quami Movement] should not be angry with the Nine Zero raid incident. Our objective should be to protect the lives of all even if this means that security forces carry out a raid in my house."
He also said the country's criminal justice had proven to be unsuccessful and that was why the military courts were set up. "The formation of the judicial commission will play a pivotal role in unveiling those who are responsible for rigging the 2013 elections. Administering a transparent investigation of the 2013 elections is in the interests of democracy and the nation. No one in this country has the right to interfere in the publics' say for electing a government," he added.
He went on, "Since the independence, successive governments have failed to provide solutions to the issues facing the nation and strongly believe the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf can deliver the solutions desperately needed to take Pakistan out of this quagmire. Terrorism is not an individual but a national issue.
