Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Thursday said no significant development has been witnessed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as claimed by a certain political entity. Addressing a workers convention of PML-N here at Governor's House, Nawaz Sharif said, 'new Pakistan' would be built by PML-N government and performance of the federal government was testimony to this resolve.
A large number of PML-N workers from all segment of society were present, who gave warm welcome to the Prime Minister upon his arrival at the 'Pindal'.
The Prime Minister talking to a cheering crowd said PML-N could have formed its government in KP by entering into alliance but it opted for giving an opportunity to those in majority.
The prime Minister recalled that he did not agree with Maulana Fazlur Rehman for the formation of a coalition government in the province.
Nawaz Sharif said during his government, he constructed Motorway from Peshawar to Lahore. Peshawar will now be connected with Karachi through a motorway, facilitating people of the province by easing their journey to the port city, he added.
The Prime Minister also announced the construction of a motorway from Peshawar to Kabul via Torkham border.
Nawaz Sharif said people who raised slogans of constructing Lawari Tunnel connecting mountainous Chitral with rest of the country failed to complete the project. The present government, he said, will complete this project within two years.
The Prime Minister said PML-N government was constructing Diamer-Bhasha dam having a capacity of generating 4500 MW electricity for which Rs 100 billion have been released for acquiring land. The construction of Dashu and Munji dams would help generate 15000 MW electricity, collectively, he added.
He said construction was under way at the Hazara Motorway, adding soon motorways and expressways would be constructed in each and every part of the province. He said in the next three and half years, hundreds of thousands of laptops would be provided to schoolchildren.
Nawaz Sharif said he fulfilled all the promises which he made with the people.
"We do not make claims only, instead we believe in practical work. I never used derogatory remarks against any one, rather I speak for the country and you people," he said.
Nawaz Sharif said, "the terrorists today are finding no place to hide and their back has been broken and soon the country would be free from terrorism. This is our country and we want peace in it, we have to win this war at all cost to put an end to unrest."
He said there was no place in the country for those who slaughter innocent people for their nefarious designs and the government was determined to get rid of them.
He said his government was gradually progressing in overcoming the energy crisis. Inflation was brought down, he added.
Nawaz Sharif promised to visit each and every city and town of the province for the execution of developmental projects.
"This is my endeavour to provide electricity and gas to every household in the country and serious efforts are under way to overcome gas shortage," he added.
He said that displaced people of Fata would soon be rehabilitated and destroyed infrastructure would be rebuilt in a better manner.
The convention was also addressed by Governor KP Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Provincial President PMLN Pir Sabir Shah, Advisor to PM Engr Amir Muqam and workers leaders Zulfiqar Bacha. Earlier, Senator Iqbal Zafar Jhagra presented a traditional 'turban' to the Prime Minister.
