The LSE-25 index further shed 139.56 points to end at 4953.03 against 5092.59 of Thursday and equities suffered more losses amid a sluggish trading trend.
The transaction volume squeezed to 667,100 shares compared to the day's earlier volume of 1.430 million shares. Most of the blue chips including ready board shares like PPL, Shell Pakistan, Hascol Petroleum, Fauji Fertiliser, Engro Fertilizer, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Bank of Punjab, Bank Al-Habib, Fauji Cement, PIA and Pervez Ahmed Securities ended with losses. Only a few companies including Arif Habib Corporation, Askari Bank, Byco Petroleum and Power Cement stayed in green zone with marginal gains.
The declining stocks were far ahead of the advancing ones. Of 68 active companies, four registered gain, 17 declined while 47 companies stayed glued to their previous closing.
Arif Habib gained 93-paisa while Askari Bank and Byco Petroleum were up by 28 and nine-paisa, respectively.
In the negative column, PPL lost Rs 4.50, Fauji Fertilizer Rs 3.90, Shell Pakistan Rs 3.31, while Engro Fertiliser and Adamjee Insurance were down by Rs 2.90 and Rs 2.05, respectively. Bank of Punjab with trading of 272,500 shares topped the volume leaders followed by PIA with 205, 000 shares.
