The Third International Conference on Value-Addition and Innovation in Textiles (COVITEX 2015) was held here at National Textile University on Friday in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC).
International partners of the conference were University of Bolton, United Kingdom, and Marmara University, Turkey. Professor Dr Mumtaz Hassan Malik, Rector NTU, chaired the moot while Dr Rashid Masood was the chief organiser.
In his inaugural speech, Dr Malik said that recent research and development in textile filed was the major focus of COVITEX, which was a valuable platform for the researchers and scholars to share their work about growing diversity in technology and its range of application.
He said that the research papers had been selected for this conference after thorough scrutiny in respect to their importance, validity and reliability. The search papers covered most of the conspicuous researchers in textile and its related technologies, covering the main areas of conventional and technical textiles ie non-woven, composites, fashion and clothing, he added.
He thanked all the researchers and speakers both from Pakistan and abroad for their interest in presenting their research papers and publishing their contributions through COVITEX platform. He hoped that their contributions would entail a milestone in the textile world.
The NTU Rector thanked the leading universities of the world for their support and collaboration especially the University of Bolton, UHA France and Marmara University for their help in organising the conference. "We also express our gratitude to all members of the event organising committee and members of technical and publication committee for their valuable input and endeavour in processing the conference proceedings," he added.
He also extended gratitude to the Ministry of Textile and the HEC for their financial support to make the international event successful.
Prominent Researchers including Professor Dr SC Anand, Bolton University (UK); Professor Dr Tanvir Hussain, Dean NTU Faisalabad; Dr Muhammad Mushtaq Mangat TUL, Liberec Czech Republic; Dr Salihumaiwada Ahmad, Bello University, Nigeria; D. Tahir Hussain Shah, Imri Bolton (UK); Dr Abdul Jabbar, Textile Institute Karachi; Professor Dr Baljinder Kandola, University of Bolton (UK); Professor S Rajendran, IMRI, Bolton University; Dr Mohsen Mir Atab, Bolton University and Dr Navneet Soin, IMRI Bolton University presented their research papers.
