A three-day special campaign here on Monday started in provincial capital to vaccinate polio drops more than 1.204 million children below age of five under the fourth round of the Sehat-Ka-Ittehad Programme.
The special polio eradication campaign would be carried out more than 22 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to officials said that during the three-day special campaign, 1.204 million children will be administered oral polio drops for which a total of 3616 polio teams have been deputed.
As per detail report of Polio Emergency Operation Centre Peshawar, the campaign will be carried out in 215 selected union councils which are considered to be high risk areas with regard to polio virus.
District Peshawar and Bannu are excluded from the campaign on the ground that a weeklong inject able polio vaccination (IPV) has just being concluded in both the districts where as Polio campaign has been postponed in District Mansehra due to terrorist attack on Polio team over there during the last campaign.
A meeting of the relevant quarters has been convened on Tuesday to resume polio campaign in the district. Vaccines and other logistics have been delivered to the 22 districts, and 883 Motorcycles and 121 vehicles have also been provided for the mobility of Polio teams in these Districts.
