Malnutrition claimed lives of two more children in different areas of famine-hit district on Monday taking the ongoing year death toll to 250. Sources said that two children who were under treatment at Civil Hospital Mithi due to under-nourishment expired on Monday morning.
It should be mentioned that since January 01, 2015 about 250 people including 222 children have died of malnutrition while hundreds of others were under treatment at different hospitals of the district and province.
The malnutrition and outspread of epidemics resulted due to drought and negligence of authorities concerned in 2014 has so far claimed lives of about 2000 people including women, children and elderly persons.
Despite tall claims and repeated assurances, Sindh government seems to be helpless in tackling the situation as hospitals still lack paramedical staff, treatment facilities and equipments.
Lives of the under treatment children and other patients are at stake due to inappropriate treatment facilities and non-serious attitude of authorities concerned who are wasting their energies on statements, press conferences instead of solid steps to save the precious lives.
