Managing Director (MD) Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), Qutab uddin Shaikh said that the city facing around 500 million gallon water shortage daily. Talking to newsmen at Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said that 100 million gallon water supply source have been dried due to drought conditions.
He said at present water board supplies around 500 million galling water in the city Qutab uddin Shaikh said that reports have been received about water theft by industrialists form Landhi, Korangi and Site areas and added that water disconnection action has been initiated against them in collaboration with area associations.
He said that action has also been initiated against ghost employees in water board. There are around 12900 employees in KWSB out of them 480 have been pointed out as ghost employees, he added. Out of these 480 employees 250 are out of country and around 200 employees did not turned up for ratification.
He said that the department has given them last chance to report and incase of failure they will be removed from services.
