Deputy Commissioner Thatta, Agha Shahnawaz Babar has said that Polio is a fatal disease, which could be defeated through a collective struggle of all relevant departments of the district. He said that the district administration would take all possible steps to ensure that each and every child below five years of age would be vaccinated against polio during the Sub-national polio immunization days campaign (SNIDs). Sub-national polio immunizations days' campaign would be commenced from 6th April 2015 in 13 Union councils of the district Thatta, he added.
He said this while chairing a meeting with the officers of the Health, PPHI and other relevant departments to review the arrangements regarding Sub-national polio immunizations days campaign (SNIDs) at Darbar Hall, Deputy Commissioner Office at Makli here on Tuesday.
Agha Shahnawaz Babar said they would carry out the three-day sub-national polio campaign from 6th April to 8th in the 13 Union Councils of the Tahseel Mirpur Sakro, Tehseel Ghorabari and Tehseel Thatto.
On this occasion, SSP Thatta, Fida Hussain Mastoi was also present. He said that the police have made an effective security plan for anti-polio drive. Police personnel would be deployed at sensitive transit points and adequate securities measures would also be taken during the polio drive.
