Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Tuesday formed several committees for the supervision of forthcoming local government elections in the city. The committees were formed during a meeting of the party's Karachi Division held here at PPP Media Cell.
With PPP Karachi chapter General Secretary Syed Najmi Alam in the chair, the meeting was attended by party's parliamentary leader in Senate Senator Saeed Ghani, PPP Sindh Information Secretary and Chief Minister's Special Assistant Waqar Mehdi, Special Assistant to CM Rashid Rabbani, CM's coordinator Shahjehan Khan, CM's Coordinator Haji Muzaffar Ali Shujrah, PPP Karachi Division Information Secretary Abdul Lateef Mughal and Manzoor Abbas.
The meeting formed a LG elections monitoring committee to be headed by Rabbani with Shahjehan Khan and Zulfiquar Ali Qaimkhani as members. The said committee would also induct one member from each district of the city on recommendation of district president.
A Manifesto Committee was also formed to be headed by Lal Bux Bhutto while another committee would also be headed by him for coordination with the provincial election commission and district civil administration in which one representative from each district of Karachi would also be taken as member on recommendation of PPP district President.
Lateef Arain would head a committee constituted for imparting training to the PPP workers, who would serve as polling agents during LG polls in the city.
Qazi Basheer advocate would head a legal committee that would guide and facilitate the PPP candidates for filing their nomination papers and other matters that would pertain to their candidacy. The legal committee would also appoint a lawyer from each district of the city.
As the forthcoming LG polls would be conducted on party basis and hence a campaign and canvassing committee was also formed. The said committee would be headed by CM's Special assistant Waqar Mehdi and member Abdul Lateef Mughal.
Haji Muzaffar Ali Shujrah would head a committee that would look after matter pertaining registration and enlistment of voters. The said committee would also get one representative from each district of the metropolis.
