Minister for Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain on Thursday discussed bilateral economic, defence and trade relations with the Deputy Minister of South African Department of Defence, Kebby Maphatsoe in Pretoria.
The Minister is on a 5-day official visit to South Africa. During the meeting, he emphasised the need to have frequent interaction at the top political level.
Referring to Pakistan's "Vision-2025" and "Look Africa" policy, the Minister reiterated desire to enhance bilateral relations in different fields.
In response, Kebby Maphatsoe expressed satisfaction over the steady pace of strengthening bilateral relations. Referring to the 4th Joint Commission held between the two countries, in Pretoria, in November 2014, he assured the Minister of all possible support from all concerned Departments of South Africa for deepening relations between the two countries, said a message received here.
At the South African Department of Defence (Armscor), the Chairman of Armscor, Vice Admiral Refiloe Mudimu (retd) received the Minister for an in-depth briefing on the working and dynamics of his Organisation.
The Minister was briefed by the top brass of Armscor on the "tremendous opportunities" Pakistan offers especially in the area of defence production. Chairman Mudimu visited Pakistan as the Naval Chief of South Africa in 2014.
