Two bills, the University of Sahiwal Bill 2015 and the University of Jhang Bill, were introduced in the 13th session of the Punjab Assembly here on Friday. The bills have been sent to parliamentary committees for further deliberation.
In the house there was also laying of the Special Audit Report on Accounts of Livestock Experimental Stations, Livestock and Dairy Development Department, Government of Punjab for the audit year 2008-09.
During the question hour on the Home Department, the Punjab Food Minister answering questions said that there were 83 police stations in Lahore. He said that 49 police stations were placed in government buildings while 17 were in rented premises. The Minister said that remaining was in placed in government department buildings.
Answering a question of MPA Javaid Akhtar, the Minister said that no SHO was posted for more than three years in the Multan City area police station. He informed the house that the SHO posted in Multan City area PS has arrested 444 proclaimed offenders. The Minster said that two SSPs, three SPs and 14 DSPs were posted in Multan District at present.
Answering questions, the Minister said three prisoners were killed in Sheikhupura district during the period from 01-01-2012 to 22-09-2013.
Answering another question of MPA Ahmed Khan, the Punjab Minister said that measures being taken to completely computerise the police record in the province.
Answering the question, he said that computerisation program (PROMIS) was being carried out in 213 police stations of 36 districts of the Punjab province.
Earlier in pre budget discussion legislators put stress on development in education, health, agriculture, irrigation and welfare sectors in the province.
Legislators during the discussion demand establishment of water filtration plants in the province.
They also stressed upon funding for development and provision of basic facilities in desert areas of Punjab.
The Speaker later adjourned the house because of the lack of quorum for Monday.
