This refers to the "misstatement" of PIA Captain Suhail Baluch that appeared in a section of the press regarding the recently announced National Aviation Policy 2015. The statement is malicious and misleading and is an attempt to spread disinformation.
It is clarified that the PIA Management was part and parcel of the consultative process during formulation of the forward looking and dynamic aviation policy at every step. In this regard, the last meeting was conducted with all airlines representatives on 12th December, 2014 at the Aviation Division in Islamabad.
The new Aviation Policy encourages a level playing field for all airlines. The Open Skies Policy as contained in the new Policy is also forward-looking and is based on the principle of reciprocity.
At same time, while intending to provide a forward-looking and dynamic outlook to the aviation sector in the country, the Policy has been drawn up to primarily support the aviation industry's growth within the country and to further facilitate all national airlines.
The Aviation Policy must be commended for providing a number of incentives including tax benefits and duty incentives to the airlines. When implemented in letter and spirit, the Aviation Policy will serve to grow business of airlines such as facilitating air passengers, improving connections, creating jobs and enhancing overall economic activity in the country.-PR
