Japan's Ministry of Agriculture said on Wednesday that it would seek 120,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 200,000 tonnes of feed barley to be loaded by July 31 and for arrival in Japan by September 30, via a simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) auction that will be held on April 8. The tender is usually conducted weekly, but the ministry skipped the tender this week due to an adjustment at the close of the fiscal year that ended on Tuesday.
Japan buys a small portion of feed wheat and barley via so-called SBS auctions, in which end-users and importers specify the origin, price and quantity of grain, allowing millers to meet their varied needs for the feed grain.
