The Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) has completed training of the first batch of 25 solar technicians from various districts of Punjab and distributed certificates in a ceremony. In the verve of technology sophistication and skill development to uplift the local industry, the company has joined hands with the Punjab Skills Development Fund to foster the renewable energy sector.
The project is being implemented under the Skills for Job 2014-15 which aimed at contemporary skills development in the discipline of solar technology among the disadvantaged youth.
A company spokesman said his company was expected to enroll 75 candidates from Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Narowal, in the breakdown of three batches to be trained in the area of photovoltaics. The overall project duration is stretched over one year where each course will be extended for a span of three months.
He said the prime focus is on feasibility designing, site inspections, system sizing, system installation, system handover and troubleshooting of grid tied, off grid, hybrid and tube well systems enabling the trainees to serve productively in the approaching industry.
He also said the solar lab at NIDA in Lahore had been outfitted with the most modern equipment to punctuate focus on practical training for expeditious absorption of graduates in the job market.
