Enrolment of students under Punjab "Parho Punjab Barho Punjab" started in Faisalabad for which a target has been fixed to admit a total number of 5,80,000 students in the Faisalabad division till October 31.
Secretary Schools Education Punjab Abdul Jabbar Shaheen in an inaugural ceremony, which was held at Iqbal Auditorium Agriculture University, admitted students and distributed books and bags among students.
EDO Education Faisalabad, Jhang, T T Singh and Chiniot, Bashir Zahid Goraya, Naseem Zahid, Rao Aqeel, Mansha Meo repectively, AC(G) Mahr Shafqatuallh Mushtaq, DMO Tariq Niazi, DEOs, DDEOs, AEOs, head teachers of government schools, representatives of private schools alliance, parents and students attended the ceremony. Addressing the audience, Secretary Schools Education Abdul Jabbar Shaheen said, "Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab" is a revolutionary step towards literacy rate and national development that would educate every child in the province.
He said that programmes is need of the hour to bring Pakistan in the list of educated nations and it lays a heavy responsibility on education department and teachers as their role is very important to make this program a success.
Chief Minister Punjab has vowed to provide quality education to all children of Punjab and has shown concerns over low attendance and results in government schools. He has ordered authorities concerned to keep strict check and balance and monthly inspection of schools in order to turn vision of the Chief Minister into reality. Those responsible for slackness would be dealt with iron hand. Secretary Schools Education discussed the success of the Chief Minister's educational road map 2010-2015 and said to continue the same programme till 2018 that would ensure high quality classroom environment as well as international standard curriculum.
All schoolgoing children would be admitted and 1,30,000 teachers would be hired on merit. He urged all authorities to give their all-out efforts to make "Parho Punjab Barho Punjab" a success and to conduct detailed surveys to find all children that could be admitted in school. Later, the secretary education visited the MC Girls High School on Susas Road, inspected the facilities being provided to students and urged the administration to focus on quality education.
