National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDCL) has launched an effective power transmission programme to efficiently disperse the power from generation plants to DISCOs, load centres to curb forced loadshedding in the country.
The 126km long 220Kv Chashma-Bannu link, planned to disperse additional nuclear electricity upcoming at Chashma Nuclear Power Plant, with completion of under construction generation plants. Of a number of power dispersal projects in pipeline, funded through international donors, including World Bank, ADB, JICA and NTDCL own arrangements.
The project in hand funded through local financial arrangements is being constructed on twin bundle configuration by using ACSR Rail Conductor, which is to be completed before scheduled time and will go a long way to transmit power to load centres in KPK province to allow/expansion system and economic activity in Pesco and Tesco areas.
The spokesman said that following the signing of contract agreement held on 13 May 2014, the high voltage transmission project was pursued with an ambitious execution plan to get the project completed in scheduled time of 450 days despite of security issues and Indus River crossing.
NTDCL accepted the challenge and started with the project at fast track with proactive site development plan and continued to work with full vigour and zeal. In 224 days, so far 360 tower foundations out of total 383 towers have been concreted. On parallel, 253 towers have also been erected at site, while stringing of conductor from 47km line along with OPGW has also been done. Currently, the most difficult portion pertaining to construction of tower foundation in flowing Indus River is at full swing.
Dilating upon the commitment and efforts being done for completion of NTDCL projects, the spokesman said that, NTDCL has already enhanced its transformation capabilities of 5400MVA augmentation by means of completion of new grid stations at existing stations and transmission network augmentation and Transmission Networking in last two years. Completion of 360 tower foundations in lesser number of 224 days, erection of 253 towers together with completion of 47km stringing work in itself speaks volumes about the dedication of NTDCL engineers and the contractor.
