Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), S M Muneer has said that CNG sector is contributing a lot to economy in the country and he reiterated his support for it at every cost. He was addressing "The CNG Conference 2015" held at a local hotel, here on Wednesday which was organized by Sindh CNG Association.
A large number of people from business community of Hyderabad, Karachi and other cities of the country participated in the conference.
"I would take up the issues of the CNG Association with Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as it contributes a lot to the national economy," he said.
The issue of tax would also be taken up with the federal finance minister to facilitate the sector, the CEO assured.
He rejected allegations levelled against him in a certain section of media and he termed them as baseless.
Monthly salary of the TDAP CEO is Rs750,000 but despite working for long hours, he is not taking any salary from the authority, he claimed.
During his tenure, he has organised many exhibitions in Karachi and other countries to promote exports from the country, he added.
He is a chairman of a leather company, which exports leathers worth about Rs9 billion per year, he informed.
"I am pessimistic about the economy and as it has already witnessed a growth of 4.2 per cent," he said, adding it showed the positive growth of economy.
In addition to this, law and order situation also registered an improvement due to the operation carried out by Pak Army in Waziristan and other areas in the country, he said while appreciating the role of Army.
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is my hero and is working to eliminate energy crisis from the country, he said and added there is no corruption case reported so far and International Transparency has also reported a decline in corruption in the country, he said.
Chairman SCNGA Shabir Suleman Jee said that Sindh CNG Association would make all efforts to promote exports in the country and if any country had trade balance surplus, it would be a positive indicator for the growth of a country.
"Respiratory diseases have witnessed 15-20 per cent reduction due to consumption of CNG by vehicles in the country," he asserted.
There are 550 CNG Stations in Sindh while Punjab has 2500, he said, adding the SSGC should revert loadshedding duration from three days to two days as there is already an agreement signed with its management in this regard, he said.
Dr Zulfiqar Yousufani said that about four million cars have been converted to CNG so far but the sector is being discouraged, he lamented.
If the sector was encouraged, it would create more employments in the country, he added.
Senior Vice President FPCCI Muhammad Ikram Rajput, President HCCI, Gohar Ullah, HCCI office-bearers and other members of the CNG Association were present on the occasion.
