Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), S M has Muneer said that the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) would be established at district level to facilitate female entrepreneurs. He said this while speaking to a dinner reception hosted in his honour by President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI), Gohar Ullah at Fatah House on late Wednesday night.
"The expenses of the TDAP have been reduced by 40 per cent after he assumed the office," he said, adding that about Rs150 million were spent on exhibitions organised in country.
Muneer said that the targets of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) were being achieved, however, energy crisis was creating problems in achieving export targets.
"We are expecting a rise in export of mangos during the current fiscal year," he said.
The TDAP would set up display and information centres at Expo Centre Karachi, he maintained.
The energy crisis and other issues being faced by business community would be taken up with Prime Minister of Pakistan, he assured the community.
On the occasion, President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Mian Muhammad Idrees said that the government should develop an appropriate policy to resolve the issue of energy crisis in the country.
Despite various issues being faced by business community, the community is honestly paying taxes to the government, he observed.
Members of National and Provincial Assemblies should be approached for development of Hyderabad city, he suggested, adding the FPCCI would extend all kinds of co-operation in this regard.
"In future, the number of CNIC would be tax register number and the FBR is working on it," the FPCCI President said.
He urged the community to spend some amount from their profits on welfare of people.
All Chambers are being connected via video-links as its members or office-bearers can attend meetings of the FPCCI being held anywhere, he added.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, President HCCI, Gohar Ullah said that the business community of Hyderabad was facing a number of problems including loadshedding and non-availability of proper infrastructure in the city.
He said that the FBR officials at Hyderabad Office were not co-operating with the business community.
He urged that the government should make Hyderabad cargo airport functional to facilitate business community to export fresh vegetables and fruits.
The representatives of the FPCCI, HCCI and officials were present on the occasion.
