The Karachi Port handled 138,889 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,656 tonnes of import cargo and 42,233 tonnes of export cargo including 5,448 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 96,656 tonnes comprised of 43,147 tonnes of containerised cargo; 28,021 tonnes of general cargo; 2,738 tonnes of bulk cargo: 654 tonnes of coal; 2,084 tonnes of DAP and 22,750 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,233 tonnes comprised of 20,893 tonnes of containerised cargo; 120 tonnes of general cargo; 5,570 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,308 tonnes of cement; 4,262 tonnes of rice and 15,650 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,448 containers comprising of 2,958 containers import and 2,490 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,128 of 20's and 905 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 502 of 20's and 352 of 40's loaded containers while 456 of 20's and 414 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely PAC Aries, Commodore, Al-Salam-II, Maersk Promise, Alam Maju, Ocean Hope and Sea Lion-S carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, fertilizer and general cargo sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. OOCL Chicago, RHL Felicitas, Uni Premier, Nave Atropos, DL Cosmos, U-Lucky, Ocean Vendor and Taikli carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely RHL Felicitas, Pyxis Malou and U-Lucky carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely Uni Premier, DL Cosmos and Ocean Vendor carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo are expected to sail on Friday.
There were five vessels viz. Northern Guild, APL Guangzhou, Hyundai Busan, Gulf Mist and Sheng Wanghai carrying containers, gas oil and steel respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while four vessels viz. Sudair, Royal Crystal, BW Zambesi and Alam Madu carrying containers, chemical, mogas and coal respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 75,157 tonnes includes 29,000 tonnes of furnace oil; 1,671 tonnes of LPG mix; 1,467 tonnes of chemical; 20,675 tonnes of canola seeds and 22,344 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,084 tonnes includes 21,084 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There were three ships namely CV CMA CGM Musset, MT Lahore and MT Turk Gaz with containers, furnace oil anf LPG Mix sailed out sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Atlanta carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Musset, CV Maersk Atlanta, MV Atlantic Glory, MV Concordia, MT Turk Gaz, MV Black Eagle, MV Exqusit and MT Lahore currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, chemical, canola seeds, LPG Mix, wheat, LNG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Dubai Express, APL Oman, Shalamar, Navarino and Stolt Vestland carrying containers and chemical respectively at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Musset, CV Maersk Atlanta, MV Atlantic Glory and MT Turk Gaz carrying containers, chemical and LPG Mix respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There are five ships namely CV Dubai Express, CV APL Oman, CV Shalamar, CV Navarino and MV Stolt Vestland carrying containers and chemical due to arrive on Thursday.
