Skype is getting few major updates and one of these is the addition of call recording feature for both video and audio calls.

After 15 years of its launch, Microsoft is finally adding a call recording feature to its communication tool Skype. The new feature will be available later this month and all Android, iOS, Windows, Mac and Linux users will be able to access Skype call recordings, as per The Verge.

Although Skype supported call-recording before too, this is the first time that the feature will be built-in in the app and users won’t have to rely on third-party apps for recording a call. The feature is cloud-based and people will be notified once a user starts recording a call.

Microsoft completely revamps Skype for desktop version

“Call recording is completely cloud-based, and as soon as you start recording, everyone in the call is notified that the call is being recorded. Call recordings combine everyone’s video as well as any screens shared during the call,” explains Microsoft’s Skype team.

The new feature is one of the numerous new features that will be available for the new Skype 8.0 update released today. The app is also going through a redesign for its desktop version in order to make it more mobile-like design for PC users. Along with many other updates, the new Skype will also have complete end-to-end encryption, 1080p video calling support and also ability to have up to 24 people in video call simultaneously, wrote XDA Developers.
