Provincial Paramedical Association (PPA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday threatened that they would go on strike on in all hospitals of Peshawar division, Nowshera and Charsadda if the government didn't accept their charter of demands by April 15, 2015.
"In case our demands were not met by April 15 we will launch strike from April 22 in all hospitals of the province for indefinite period and the provincial government would be responsible for the consequences," PPA president Johar Ali told a press conference at Peshawar Press Club.
He said that provincial finance minister Muzzafar Syed had already approved the service structure of paramedical staff but the secretary finance was using delaying tactics for more than one month. He informed that Chief Minister had issued directives in September last year for resolving the up gradation problem but despite the directives the issue was still pending.
Criticising the provincial government and the health care commission's current crackdown on paramedical staffs' first aid clinics and X-rays laboratories, he asked them to stop the crackdown otherwise they would stop services in hospitals.
He demanded of the government to make laws in autonomous hospitals regarding paramedical staff's promotion procedure, seniority list, converting CP funds into GP funds and their transfer in autonomous institutions.
He was accompanied by Siraj-ud-Din Barki, Chairman PPA, Syed Roidar Shah General Secretary and others.
