The first-ever police station (PS), especially dedicated for penalising miscreants involved in natural gas theft, was jointly inaugurated by Feroze Shah, DIG (West) Karachi and Khalid Rahman, MD of SSGC, on Friday. The police station set up by the SSGC was the result of the company's year long efforts aimed at curbing the gas theft. The natural gas theft is one of the primary reasons behind unaccounted for gas (UFG), a phenomenon that has severely affected the SSGC financial bottom-line.
The police station will be responsible for conducting raids against gas thieves, lodging FIRs, evidence collection and presenting challans in courts.
In their remarks, the MD of SSGC and the DIG of Karachi West expressed their utmost commitment in working together to control gas theft.
While appreciating the SSGC for taking a major step forward by setting up this police station, the Sindh Police have gone a step ahead in showing its determination to expose gas theft miscreants by regularly revealing their names and pictures in the media.
The police station has been set up due to the efforts and constant patronage of Ghulam Haider Jamali, IGP of Sindh, Feroze Shah, DIG Karachi West, and Nauman Siddiqui, SSP of Karachi Central.
DG Rangers Major-General Bilal Akhtar has also shown the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, keenness to support the efforts of SSGC in bringing gas thieves to book.
Also present on the occasion were Shoaib Warsi, DMD/COO, Major (retired) Mohammad Akhtar, SGM (Management Services) of SSGC, Dr Ejaz Ahmed, SGM (Customer Services) of SSGC, Lieutenant-Colonel (retired) Shoaib Ahmed Qureshi, AGM (Admin/Security Services) of SSGC, Kashif Qadeer, DGM/In charge (Customer Relations) of SSGC, and Colonel (retired) Mohammad Saad, GM (Security Services) of SSGC and an impressive police contingent.
