Pakistan Telecom Cricket League-2015 organised by Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) concluded here at Shalimar Cricket ground, Islamabad on Saturday.
Dr Syed Ismail Shah, Chairman PTA, attended as the Patron-in-Chief, Federal Minister Mushahidullah Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Walid Irshaid, President and CEO PTCL was the chief host who greeted all dignitaries. Shahid Afridi made a celebrity appearance and distributed prizes. Former test cricketer Mohammad Wasim also present on the occasion.
The first ever inter-telecom cricket tournament witnessed some great cricketing action on both days with the final proving to be a nail biter. The exhilarating tournament saw PTCL, Ufone, PTA, NTC, Zong, Mobilink, Warid, World Call, Telenor and Wi-Tribe deliver their best bowls and bat their best strokes to claim their right to the Pakistan Telecom Cricket League 2015 trophy.
The final trophy was lifted by the winning team from Telenor Pakistan while PTCL team remained runner-ups. The semi finals were played as Telenor vs WorldCall and PTCL vs. Mobilink.
Special recognition and prizes went to Arsalan of Telenor as Player of the Tournament, Hamza Khan Niazi of PTCL as best batsman and Asfandyar of Telenor as best bowler. Telecom sector dignitaries attended the event and shared the closing ceremony stage.
Syed Mazhar Hussain, CHRO PTCL said at the prize distribution ceremony, "Cricket is a common thread that runs throughout our society with connotations of togetherness, participation, collective joy, hope and mutual respect. The PTCL Inter-telecom Cricket Tournament 2015 is a celebration of these core values that make our people great and that reflect across PTCL's nation-wide embracing presence in service of the nation."
The two-day fun-filled event offered attractions for the families and kids ranging from food and fun activity stalls, entertainment, music and raffle draw. The event was well-attended by women, seniors and kids and a family like atmosphere prevailed throughout the event.-PR
