Experts at seminar urged that the draft of Youth Policy 2012 should be adopted immediately by Sindh Assembly with some amendments after wide consultations at gross-root level to protect the rights of youth in the province.
They said this while speaking on the occasion of seminar on "The draft of Youth Policy 2012" held at Hyderabad Press Club (HPC) on Saturday which was organized by Civil Society Support Program. Speaking on the occasion, PPP MNA Dr Sikandar Shoro said that after 18th amendments, the youth affairs was devolved the provinces and the provincial government should take appropriate steps for the development of the youth.
"The youth in province are facing various issues and besides other stakeholders, parliamentarians and assembly members have to give the final shape to the draft of policy as it should be adopted immediately", he added. He assured that he would himself play very important role for passing the draft of youth policy. Pressure groups should play their due role for implementation of laws which either amended or adopted by assembly, Shoro said.
On the occasion, Leader of Sindh United Party (SUP), Dr Dodo Mahari said that Sindh government was non-serious over the issues of youth in the province and according to the report, not single rupee was allocated for youth affair during last year's budget. Such attitude towards the youth in the province has caused the embarrassments among the youth and caused lot problems for them, he said adding in same time; Punjab government had launched various programs for youth.
Social Activist, Ghulam Mustafa Baloch said that Sindh government should launch the various program in the province for the youth.
On the occasion, it was demanded in the resolutions that the youth councils should be formed at UC, Taluka, District and Divisional level and in addition to this, Sindh Youth development Commission should be set up.
The resolution, adopted with consensus, also demanded that the Youth Endowment Fund should be established.
