Seven labourers were found dead in an underground tank of a chemical factory in Korangi area of Karachi on Sunday, police said. According to police the incident happened in Allahwala Town of Korangi where some labourers died apparently due to poisonous gases after they went into the tank of a chemical factory.
JPMC Emergency Department head Dr Seemin Jamali confirmed that seven bodies have been brought to the hospital and their post-mortem was under way to find out cause of the death. Some of the deceased were identified as Adnan, Suhail, Nawab, Imran and Saleem. The police have started investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the death of six labourers in a Karachi chemical factory and sought report from the authorities concerned.
He directed the authorities concerned to enquire into the incident and identify criminals involved in it at the earliest. Earlier, Police recovered seven dead bodies from a private chemical factory at Allahwala Town of Korangi in Karachi on Sunday.
According to the DIG Police East, all the dead bodies have been shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy. He said the incident seems to be the result of suffocation in the factory. He said the owner of the factory is also among the dead. The DIG said police were conducting inquiry into the incident from different angles.
