A representative delegation of China Railways and Norinco International China met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and discussed the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project. There was an agreement in the meeting regarding the project.
Talking to the delegation, the Punjab Chief Minister said that agreement between Pakistan and China on the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project augurs well and the project will be a masterpiece of Pak-China friendship. He said the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project will result in speedy, comfortable and economical transport facilities to the people and will the revolutionise transport system. He said the 27-kilometer long project will be completed speedily and transparently while a high standard of construction will also be maintained. He said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project is the first and unique project in Pakistan. Shahbaz Sharif said that 26 stations will be constructed on the route of metro train and more than 2,00,000 people will travel by this train daily.
He said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project will be a milestone in public transport sector. He said an agreement on the project was the result of hard work of political and administrative team of Punjab and concerned Chinese institutions. The Chief Minister especially lauded the efforts of Rana Sanaullah, Chief Secretary, Kh Ahmed Hassan, Sibtain Fazal Haleem and others in this regard. He said that the Pak-China friendship was higher than Himalayas, sweeter than honey, deeper than ocean and stronger than steel and is touching new heights. He said that various Chinese companies were already working in Pakistan. He said that new avenues of co-operation between Pakistan and China have opened and economic ties between two countries have entered into a new era. Chinese Consul General in Lahore Yu Boren, senior officials of China Railways and Norinco International were also present on the occasion. Punjab Ministers Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Col (retd) Shuja Khanzada, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, MPA Rana Sanaullah, Chairman of Lahore Transport Company Kh Ahmed Hassan, Advisor Dr Ijaz Nabi, Chief Secretary, Managing Director of Punjab Metro Bus Authority, Chairman of Planning & Development, secretaries concerned and senior officials were attended the meeting.
