Twenty victims of targeted killings in Turbat were laid to rest in their respective native villages of Punjab and Sindh amid scenes of grief and sorrow on Sunday. Thousands of people attended their funeral prayers held in Sadiqabad, Mithi and Badin for 13, five and two victims of the tragedy, respectively.
Funeral prayers of those offered in Sadiqabad included Bilawal, son of Bashir Ahmed; Malik Mithoo, s/o Malik Bakhshoo; Majid Ali, s/o Abdul Latif; Faqir Muhammad, s/o Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Ra'ana, Rab Nawaz, Tahir Zaman, s/o Noor Zaman, Farooq, s/o Muhammad Siddique, Mumtaz Ahmed, s/o Sohna; Abdul Rehman, s/o Abdul Majid; Ashiq Hussain, s/o Abdul Hameed; Muhammad Afzal, s/o Mehmood Ahmed; Irshad Ahmed, s/o Jumma and Haji Muhammad Din, s/o Muhammad Sharif.
DPO Rahimyar Khan Khan Suhail Chattha said that although all the victims belonged to same tribe, they were residents of different villages.
Punjab Minister Muhammad Shafiq, who visited Sadiqabad, paid Rs50000 to the bereaved families of each victim of the tragedy for making burial arrangements of their near and dear ones, from Punjab Bait-ul-Maal.
Demo: People of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad on Sunday staged demonstrations to voice their anger over the targeted killing of the labourers.
Protesters demanded of the government to immediately arrest those involved in the heinous crime and pay a handsome amount as compensation to the bereaved families.
DPO Rahimyar Khan Khan Suhail Chattha said," police is patrolling in the area to maintain law and order."
In Sadiqabad, Abdul Majid, father of Abdul Rehman (24) said that his son was married only 20 days ago, while Malik Bakhshoo said that marriage of his son, Malik Mithoo, 18, was schedule to take place in May.
In Mithi, five bodies of the victims of Turbat tragedy were shifted to Islamkot via Hyderabad on Sunday.
Hailing from Islamkot's Makwani community, they all belonged to the same family. They included two brothers, Sawabdar and Majnoon, sons of Khamiso, while other victims were identified as Majeed, s/o Sonaharo; Karro, s/o Luqman and Metho, s/o Pyaro.
Their bodies were received by Tharparkar's deputy commissioner Muhammad Asif Jamil. Later, they were laid to rest in their native village on Sunday morning.
A large number of people, including the deputy commissioner, MNA Faqir Shar Muhammad Bala Lani, MNA Dr Mehash Kumar Malani, PPP leader Nane Bajir, were present at their funeral prayers.
Expressing their condolences to the bereaved families, they prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and give courage to the members of bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.
Talking to APP, they said that the anti-state elements will never succeed in their nefarious designs as the entire nation was united against militancy and terrorism.
They called upon the authorities concerned to provide best possible assistance to the bereaved families.
Moreover, funeral prayers of two labourers were offered in Badin District on Sunday morning. Both the victims were cousins.
They were identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Aslam and 22-year-old Muhammad Ayub. They were residents of village Haji Salman of district Badin.
Their bodies were shifted to Hyderabad by a helicopter and later shifted to district Badin's village Haji Salman Mangwana by an ambulance.
A large number of people, including MPA Mir Allah Baksh Talpur, were present at the funeral ceremony of both the cousins.
