Having active lifestyle instead of sedentary, offering prayers, regular walk, maintaining normal weight, adopting light exercises and taking balanced diet can ensure healthy bones and joints. These thoughts were shared by renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon of Pakistan Dr Tariq Sohail while addressing a medical seminar at TECH Society Club on Sunday. Dr Muhammad Sadiq and Jameel Gishkori also spoke.
Dr Tariq Sohail warned the smokers and habitual of steroids to discontinue their habits otherwise they will have to face orthopaedic diseases in early age. Now more effective latest medicines are available to prevent osteoporosis and prolong the ageing process, Dr Tariq claimed. He also claimed that spinal cord disc is now repaired within just one day and the patient can move around the very next day of treatment. Dr Tariq Sohail disclosed that ratio of osteoporosis is more in women as compared to men particularly in Pakistan.
Appropriate intake of vitamin D, Calcium and exposing to the sunlight can contribute to healthy bones and joints. Dr Tariq Sohail advised Orthopaedic surgery when medicines are failed to act, cartilages have been totally damaged, space between joints are eliminated and bones of joints are in direct contact with each other. A medical camp was also organised by Dr Tariq Sohail to check the calcium levels of ladies, gents and kids free of charge.
