Taiwan stocks rose 0.12 percent on Monday, led by plastics and transportation shares amid mixed performance in other regional bourses. The main TAIEX index was up 11.67 points at 9,629.37 as of 0218 GMT, after closing up 0.52 percent on Friday.
Plastics was among the best-performing sub-indexes, with leading conglomerate Formosa Plastics Corp up 1.18 percent, in line with a 1.16 percent gain in the overall subindex.
Transportation was up 1.5 percent, boosted by major carrier Eva Airways Corp, which notched a 2.08 percent gain.
Autos slipped 0.21 percent, while the electronics subindex was up 0.12 percent.
The Taiwan dollar was down T$0.006 at T$31.254 to the US dollar.
