Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on Tuesday reached Kabul on a two-day visit and held meeting with the Afghan Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah. An official delegation comprising Senators, provincial ministers and provincial assembly members was also accompanying the chief minister.
During the meeting in Aspaidar Palace, Kabul they discussed matters of mutual interest. The chief minister briefed the Afghan Chief Executive about the agenda of the PTI-led coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reforms and steps initiated.
He also mentioned in details the social and economic losses inflicted on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to the ongoing war on terror and highlighted steps taken regarding illegally residing Afghan refugees in the province to secure internal security.
Both the leaders also discussed trade relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan and stressed the need for strengthening and formalising of these ties.
The KP Chief Minister also informed Afghan Chief Executive particularly about the difficulties faced by the province due to transit trade and stressed the need for formally promotion of these trade relations on modern lines.
He said that as the provincial government was bringing reforms in all sectors to grant autonomous status and the removal of hurdles in trade with Afghanistan are also included in the agenda. He said that such measures will be in the interest of both neighbouring countries.
