Advisor on Health Kh Salman Rafique briefed a 14-member delegation of officers of Health Department Sindh here on Tuesday about the implementation of Chief Minister's Health Roadmap for the up-gradation of healthcare delivery system and provision of better medical facilities to the masses.
Special Secretary Health Sindh Dr. Khalid Hussain Sheikh and Director General Health Sindh Dr. Hassan Murad Shah, Director General Health Punjab Dr. Zahid Pervez, senior officers of Health Department and health specialist Dr. Naeemuddin Mian also participated in the meeting.
Advisor on Health said a sum of Rs. 2 billion has been allocated for special pay package of specialist doctors of district and Tehsil headquarters hospitals while funds of Rs. 1.5 billion have been given for the renovation of infrastructure of these hospitals. A proposal is under consideration to give age relaxation to doctors for the rehabilitation of basic health centers, besides, healthcare delivery system in Punjab and the measures taken for the up-gradation of primary and secondary health sector.
He said an impartial search committee has been constituted in Punjab for the appointment of EDOs Health and medical superintendents of hospitals and no political pressure is taken into account in appointment against these posts.
Kh. Salman further said that special pay package has been approved for the posting of specialist doctors in Tehsil and district headquarters hospitals and they will be given up to double amount of their existing salary.
Kh. Salman said Key performance Indicators have been introduced in Punjab for judging the efficiency of officers of Health Department and a cash prize of 50 thousand rupees is given by the Chief Minister to EDO Health over excellent performance while the officers showing unsatisfactory performance are held accountable and health insurance scheme will be introduced in four districts of the province this year.
He said that IRMNCH programme has been started by consolidating lady health worker programme, mother and child health programme and nutrition programme to avoid duplication of work and better utilisation of manpower and financial resources.
