A meeting of the District Excise and Taxation Officers held here in the Conference Room of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mian Jamshiduddin Kakakhel on Tuesday. Besides Secretary Excise & Taxation Mohammad Israr, Director General (DG) Excise & Taxation Javed Marwat District ETOs from across the province attended.
The meeting reviewed in detailed the targets of recovery during the last 9 months of the current financial year. On this occasion, DG Excise and Taxation, Javed Marwat told the meeting that the Chief Minister has approved a summary of the merging of the Department of Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control under 18th Constitutional Amendment.
The meeting decided the imposing of ban on the weekly off of the recovery related officers and employees of the Department of Excise and Taxation till June 30, 2015 for ensuring the achievement of the target of revenue. A circular in this regard will be formally issued.
Similarly, the meeting also decided the holding regional level recovery meeting on monthly basis, which will review the situation.
The Secretary, Excise & Taxation, Mohammad Israr while quoting the difficulties faced by the district officers in connections with recovery said that all out efforts would be made for the resolution of the problems of the shortage of staff and other difficulties, however, no excuse will be accepted in connections with the achievement of the revenue target.
The meeting was told that for the facilitation of the tax payers initially Tax Facilitation Centres (TFCs) have been established in three districts including Nowshera, Peshawar and Abbottabad while such facilities in other districts will be expanded in phases.
Addressing the meeting, the Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mian Jamshiduddin Kakakhel told the participants that tax payers have their rights while the tax collectors performed their duties. Therefore, he urged all officers and employees for performing their duties with positive and pleasant attitude. He also directed effective action against tax defaulters.
