Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen met with Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan at Election Commission Office and discussed in detail the PTI's apprehensions regarding upcoming by-election in NA-246 (Karachi).
Sources in the ECP revealed that during the meeting, Jahangir Tareen showed serious reservations for arrangements made for protection of their candidate and voters in NA-246 constituency. Another issue which came under discussion was ink to be used for thumb impression of the voters.
Addressing the media before holding a meeting with the CEC, Jahangir said that PTI is pleased to hear that Secretary ECP will be visiting Karachi and will review the polling arrangement in NA-246 by-elections himself.
He further said that the counting of votes in NA-246 by-election would be completed in presence of Rangers who would be deployed inside and outside the polling stations on the polling day. The PTI will be meeting Rangers, police and administrative authorities in this regard. Magisterial powers have been given to the Rangers so that the elections are held without any hurdle.
Tareen said the electoral body should carry out an investigation into the failure of electronic voting system in the 2013 general elections.
