Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Awami National Party (ANP) along with some individuals, including a private television channel, submitted documentary 'evidence' to the Judicial Commission.
The Commission had sought proposals from political parties to submit by April 15 brief statements, accompanied by supporting evidence or material for its consideration to determine whether the 2013 elections were organised and conducted impartially, honestly, fairly, justly and in accordance with law.
On Thursday (today), the first public hearing of the Commission would be held in Court No 1 of the Supreme Court under the chair of Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk.
The Secretary of the Commission has said in a statement that any person or a counsel appearing on behalf of a political party would need to produce due authorisation from the head of the party.
The sources disclosed to this correspondent that PTI leader Ishaq Khakwani submitted a 40-page technical proposal to the Secretary of the Commission. Senior advocate Abdul Hafeez Pirzada will head PTI's legal team before the Judicial Commission.
Sources disclosed that the PTI has urged the Commission to summon former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramady and former Chairman of the Election Commission of Pakistan Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim in connection with this matter.
