The rupee sustained its gains versus the dollar on the currency market on Wednesday in the process of trading, dealers said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee recovered 12-paisa more in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.67 and Rs 101.69 respectively, they said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee picked up five-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.35 and Rs 102.55 respectively, they said.
The rupee gave back overnight gains versus the euro, losing five-paisa for buying and selling at Rs 108.25 and Rs 108.50 respectively, they said.
In the third Asian trade, the dollar took back some ground lost after a surprisingly weak US retail sales report, while the Australian dollar edged lower on Wednesday after downbeat Chinese economic data.
China's annual economic growth slowed to a six-year low of 7.0 percent in the first quarter, with other key indicators slumping to new multi-year lows.
The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 62.43, the greenback was at 3.7150 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2055 in relation to the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee made a recovery in relation to the greenback on the local currency market on Wednesday.
The dollar resumed trading on a depressed note and remained under selling pressure. At close of trading, the dollar ended lower at Rs 102.40 and Rs 102.65 on buying and selling side against Rs 102.55 and Rs 102.80 of Tuesday, respectively.
But, the rupee still maintained its downward move and depreciated against the pound sterling that was purchased and sold at Rs 150.50 and Rs 150.75 compared with previous closing of Rs 149.75 and Rs 150.00, respectively.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
