KP Governor, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has declared that peace and prosperity in the country depend upon the restoration of peace and prosperity in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and that is why the government is paying heed to the under developed areas of FATA and in this connection a comprehensive FATA reforms programme is being launched soon in accordance with the tribal customs.
He was talking to a delegation of the parliamentarians from FATA which called on him at the Governor's House, Peshawar on Wednesday. Members of the delegation included Senator Hidayatullah Khan, Senator Malik Najmul Hassan, Senator Maulana Muhammad Saleh Shah Qureshi, Senator Malik Hilalur Rehman, Senator Alhaj Taj Muhammad, Senator Momeen Khan, MNA Ghalib Khan, MNA Shahabuddin, MNA Nasir Khan Afridi and MNA Muhammad Nazir Khan.
The governor stated that side by side with the jawans of Pakistan Army, the sacrifices so far made by the tribal people in the war against terrorism were not latent from anyone. He said those sacrifices were a bright chapter of the history of the country and their sacrifices would fully be honoured. He said the tribal people were being brought on a par with the developed zones and very soon there would be peace and prosperity all over in the tribal belt.
The governor disclosed that in the repatriation of the IDPs there would be no resource constraints and for the repatriation and restoration of the IDPs Rs. 600 million had already been provided in the first phase from the Annual Development Programme. He assured that if required more funds would also be provided for the purpose.
The FATA parliamentarians appreciated the government's developmental initiatives especially the Annual Development Programme and announced that they would fully support the Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan in his efforts to bring FATA on road to development.
They also assured that they would play their democratic role in the parliament fully supporting the developmental reforms of the government.
