Fixed lines connections reached 2.97mn: PTA report
ISLAMABAD: Fixed lines connections including wireless local loop (WLL) reached 2.97 million according to an official report issued by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) here Tuesday.
The annual Fixed Local Lines (FLL) subscribers reached 2,658,314 million on the other hand annual Wireless Local Loop (WLL) subscribers reach 327,996. With the introduction of wireless based technologies in Pakistan which provide easy and cheap alternate of such services fixed line subscription witnessed a fast decline in last few years.
Wireless local loop is an important part of Pakistan's telecom sector as it provides a feasible last mile solution for rural telephony due to relatively.
According to a report, dramatic increase in mobile broadband has seen as penetration over the past five years as mobile broadband subscribers reach 55 billion with teledensity of 27.04 percent till end May,2018 on the other hand Basic Telephony Subscribers are 3 Million with 1.30 percent Teledensity.
The Telecom sector is one of the fastest growing segments of Pakistan’s economy as the number of 3G and 4G users in the country has reached 55,470,411 by end of May 2018, showing a reasonable growth with each passing month.
The number of mobile broadband users reached 55,470,411 by end of May 2018, as compared to 54,663,945 million by end of April 2018.
